Nene Valley MCC held their annual Phil Panter Trial at Glendon Quarry on Sunday. This was the fourth round of the 2012 club championship with 64 riders attending for what was to be a great day for everyone. The weather forecast for the day was for rain and the trial was set out the previous day for these conditions. Fortunately the rain held off and the sun made an appearance to turn the conditions from slippy to grippy.
The 2011 Club awards were presented to the respective winners prior to the start of the trial by the clubs Lifetime President Derek Jones along with Judith Ayres and Daphne Robinson. Each of the Club Champions also received a goody box of oils and gifts from Paul Davies of the Cambs Trials Centre. Thank you also to Putoline Motorcycle oils for their generous contribution towards these gift boxes.
The trial was to be 4 laps of 10 sections.
The Expert class was won by Chris Koch who had an amazing ride to get round for zero marks lost. He was followed by Steve Swanson in second place with 3 marks lost; Richard Allen came in third place with 7 marks lost.
Danyon Hume won the Youth A Class (Expert route) and dropped 49.
The 50/50 Class was won by Phil Ducker who dropped 30 marks, second place went to Stephen Young on 37 marks and third place went to David Green who dropped 46 marks.
The Inter class was won by Joe Collins who dropped 31 marks, followed in second place by Paul Davies also on 33 marks lost; Julian Collins came in third place with 34 marks lost.
The Clubman class was a close fight with Andy Kenyon Bell and Chris Eckert both finishing on zero marks lost. Third place went to John Quigg who dropped a single mark on section two on the final lap.
Also riding the middle route was Sam Phypers who won the Youth B Class dropping 11 marks.
The Novice class was won by Rob Coleman who lost 13 marks, Second place went to Dave Stainton losing 14 marks and third place went to Graham Walsh who dropped 26 marks.
The easy route was won by Brian Ayres who also dropped zero marks; Second place went to Dave Barron with 10 marks lost. Third place went to Brian Deveroux who also lost 10 marks; Dave Barron beat him by going further clean.
The Youth C Class was won by Frazer Strutt with 17 marks lost.
The E Class was won by Alfie Ray Turner who dropped 50 marks.
After the trial we had a BBQ which was a huge success, the profits of which will be donated to the Air Ambulance and Cransley Hospice. We raised £160 for the two charities; the Club has decided to add a further £40 to the pot so that we can donate £100 to each of the charities. Thank you to everyone for their support.
A very BIG thank you to the land owner and all of the observers for manning the sections. Also a big thank you to all of the people who helped in the preparation and setting out of the trial. And a big thank you to all the girls who made the BBQ a big success.
Our next trial and the fifth round of Nene Valley MCC Championship will be the Rose Bowl Trial held on the 10th of June at Duck End, we look forward to seeing you all there.

Thanks to Sir John Robinson for allowing us to use his land and to all the observers for manning the post. Thanks also to Tony, Nick, Dave W, David B, Roy, Graeme, Julian, Joe, Brian, Steve, Paul & Malcolm for their help in setting the sections out.
For those of you that receive the Sporting Motorcyclist you will see that our April Trial at Great Addington reads as a Youth Championship trial, this is incorrect.
Hope you all enjoyed today’s trial and look forward to seeing you all at Great Addington on April 8th.
Congratulations to all of today’s winners

Good Morning Everyone,
Here’s hoping that I catch you all before you leave for the trial, which is being POSTPONED.
Apologies for not making the decision earlier, but we wanted to see what happened overnight.
Glendon is covered by approx. 3ins. snow which makes it unrealistic to run the trial.
There has been 34 entries to date and I will endeavour to make contact with them.
If you are aware of others who intended to come and enter on the day, could you please advise them of the situation.
Regards,
Malcolm
